Spend your free time doing something worthwhile - be the warm, reassuring voice a child first hears when calling us.

Childline is the UK's free and confidential helpline service for children and young people who need to talk. We provide a confidential phone and online counselling service for any child with any problem.

Our switchboard volunteers are the first person a child will speak to when they call Childline. They calm the young person, reassure them and explain a little about the service, before putting them through to a counsellor.

No previous experience of switchboard or working with children is needed, as full training and support is provided. You will gain worthwhile communication skills and experience of working in a team environment. Volunteering takes place at our Glasgow base at Templeton House, 62 Templeton St, Glasgow G40 1DA.

If you click on the "Apply" button it will take you to our website where you'll get more information and if you want to you can complete an online application.

We hold Volunteer Recruitment Meetings (VRMs) where you can find out more – to see the dates check our Gumtree ad titled "Childline Volunteer Recruitment Meetings" or go to the NSPCC website.

If you'd like to speak to someone about volunteering please call Childline Glasgow on 0141 212 3878.

Please be aware that the recruitment process takes some time. In order to allow time for interviews, references and PVG checks to be undertaken prior to training in autumn/winter 2016, you will need to submit an application as soon as possible.

Childline is a service provided by the NSPCC, Registered charity numbers 216401 and SCO37717.
